Contra Costa County Office of Education Recognizes Chevron - Chevron and Local Job Training Program Celebrate 30 Year Milestone

RICHMOND, CA. October 1, 2008- A successful partnership that has helped improve education and bring better jobs to young people in the community will mark it's 30th anniversary today.

During the 30 Year Milestone celebration, the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) will mark the accomplishments of students, Chevron employees and others involved in the Regional Occupation Program (ROP).

Chevron's Richmond Refinery and the ROP have partnered for the past 30 years to provide an important avenue for training and job opportunities in Contra Costa County.

At the event, Chevron employees, ROP students, alumni, educators and county administrators will be recognized for their commitment to education and better jobs in the community.

WHAT: 30 Year Milestone Celebration to recognize a community partnership between Chevron and the Regional Occupation Program. A Barbeque picnic will be provided by Chevron as well as a short program with public presentations. Chevron's newest employees from the ROP and a veteran employee from the first Chevron ROP class will be present.

WHY: Job creation and education are both important issues in the community. Chevron and ROP are working to ensure all local residents are aware of these opportunities in the community as well as recognize and appreciate those who have made these programs a major success for the region.
